From the Slovak Nordic Walking Association, a very good video with a couple of learning points.

  1. Nordic walking with only one arm at a time is a good way to learn the technique. You only need to focus on one arm at a time. This helps you avoid confusion that could come from thinking about more than one thing as you learn.
  2. Notice how her hand goes past the seam of her shorts with the backswing.
    1. That’s because she is letting go of the pole (look closely, and you’ll see her hand releasing the pole).
    2. Letting go of the pole gives you a greater range of motion on the backswing and more fully involves your back muscles.
