The New York Post reported an interesting study that suggested what foods and their amounts that were associated with longevity. Fruits and vegetables get the kudos.

Main point: To get the most benefits for longevity, you should eat: five daily servings of fruits and veggies — two servings of fruit and three of vegetables.”

The best results came from “green leafy vegetables, such as spinach, lettuce and kale.”

Other good results came from those “rich in beta carotene and vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, berries and carrots.”

Those not yielding benefits “starchy vegetables, such as peas and corn, fruit juices and potatoes.

The big takeaway was that ratio of fruits and vegetables was an “achievable intake for the general public.”
