Hack your walk with Nordic Walking Guy’s 3 rules:

  1. Walk with purpose!
  2. Be consistent!
  3. Remember everything counts but not everything matters!

I saw a link to this article about a platform that helps schools manage student physical fitness development. It’s clearly a public relations-oriented article by the platform company, but it gave me some ideas about how Nordic walking can be integrated into school physical education curricula.

Schools using this kind of technology can consider these ideas:

  • As part of the “Lifetime Activities” course, Nordic walking could be included as a new activity for students to try, alongside other options.
  • Nordic walking could be offered as a standalone elective course, similar to yoga and Pilates, providing students with another choice for staying active.
  • The school could incorporate Nordic walking into their weekly weightlifting sessions, using it as a cardio alternative or complement to strength training.
  • Nordic walking could be integrated into the school’s staff wellness program, offering teachers and staff another option for staying active during their free periods.

I’ve been thinking about how schools and other organizations can benefit from Nordic walking if we could get sponsors to provide funds for an inventory of Nordic walking poles on site and training for staff on how to teach Nordic walking and how to program for Nordic walking.
